Terrazzo floor maintenance method?

Terrazzo floor maintenance method?

  • Time of issue:2022-04-12 17:24

(Summary description)Terrazzo (also known as whetstone) is a product made by mixing aggregates such as crushed stone, glass, quartz stone into cement binders to make concrete products, and then grinding and polishing the surface. Terrazzo made of cement binder is called inorganic grindstone, and terrazzo made of epoxy binder is also called epoxy grindstone or organic grindstone.

How to maintain the terrazzo floor? At present, terrazzo floor tiles are relatively rare on the market. Compared with the past, their usage rate has been reduced a lot. Because they are all made on site, the convenience is not good. Its production materials are made of cement and special glue. Powder and various small stones, then combine them together and smooth them, and then use a grinding machine to smooth the whole to form. The manufacturing process is more complicated, and it is necessary to grind many times for grinding alone. And it also needs frequent maintenance to ensure that the finish of other places is as high as new.

The initial maintenance should be completely sealed with wax, and the porous cement ore should be properly sealed from the inside with non-yellow wax material. For the first few months, the floor must be mopped daily to remove minerals from the flat surface, and a further waxing may be necessary for a thorough cleaning.

Sweep, vacuum, or dust with a treated oil-free mop daily and buff with a synthetic fiber pad (do not use steel wool).

Regular wet mopping or machine brushing, first wet the ground with clean damp water, use a mild detergent, mop or vacuum at will and polish. Synthetic sealing wax recommended by the terrazzo supplier.

Waxing commonly used two methods. One is to use cotton yarn (or thin cloth) dipped in finished wax to rub a layer on the surface. After drying, use a grindstone machine to tie a sack (or hemp) roll, and rub it several times until it is smooth and shiny. Another method of waxing is to apply the finished wax on the surface layer, bake it with a blowtorch, and make the molten wax penetrate into the pores, and then polish it.
